Mineral and vegetable were married a long time ago so that the barns, summer cabins, bigourdane farms, washtubs, mills, fountains or village houses would last through the ages... These varied constructions where soil and pebbles from the rivers, slate and stone from the mountains, wood, and thatch in the olden days, were blended together to defy the harshness of altitude, the differences of temperature and quite simply the strain of the years going by.
The men
There are places where we could easily live. It's true that the Hautes-Pyreneans are a friendly people... These people who welcome you from the plain to the foothills and even higher in the perched villages... will tell you what it was like to live yesterday and what it will be like tomorrow, the preserved richness that they want to pass on to future generations. They all have one thing in common, the love of their region. Whether it's in sharing a Garbure soup or some cheese you will be able to contemplate their countryside during your stay in their company. Be careful... you might not want to go !
